1 Peter 1:22 “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the
truth through the spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see
that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower
of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word
which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
1. The WORD of GOD Purifies
2. The WORD of Gives Eternal Life
3. The WORD of GOD is Forever
1. The WORD of GOD Purifies
Verse twenty-two: “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the
truth through the spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see
that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”
Do you know that the word of God will clean you? This is one of the
BASIC truths found in the Bible. This has been revealed to us in the
Gospel of John chapter fifteen in verse three. Go there. "The
disciples of Jesus Christ were made clean by the spoken word. “Now
ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” [John
15:3] Do you see this? They were made clean through the word spoken
by God.
Now, the written word of God [the Bible] has been doing the same
thing [this same operation] for these last two thousand years to the
body of Christ which is the Church. This is found in the book of the
Ephesians chapter five, verse twenty-six: “That he might sanctify
and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,” [Ephesians
5:26]. Whenever you and I, as believers in Jesus Christ, obey the
truth, which thing comes by reading, studying, memorizing and
mediating in the word of God [in the King James Bible], we are [by
the “washing of water by the word”] being made clean [This is called
sanctification.]
This being so, [“the washing of water by the word”] in the believer
will have, as its natural fruit, a love for the brethren. Therefore,
one of the distinctive marks of a true believer in Jesus Christ [the
true Christian] manifested before all the world … is that he, or
she, will love the brethren [other Christians], and more exactly, to
a "unfeigned love of the brethren". An “unfeigned love” means there is
nothing hypocritical or fake about this love for the brethren. It is
totally pure. It is one of the fruits of the true believer. See
what, the BOOK says, in Second Corinthians chapter six, verse six:
“By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the
Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,” [2 Corinthians 6:6]
2. The WORD of Gives Eternal Life
Verse twenty-three: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but
of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for
ever.”
Now, the first birth of a man is when a man comes into this
world as “a living soul.” This is your physical birth! Further, you
came from the womb of your mother … formed by God. It is, as Job
said it is, in Job chapter thirty-one: “Did not he that made me in
the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?” [Job
31:15] Now, the second birth [which is being born again] involves
being made spiritually made alive by “a quickening spirit.”
We can see very this truth in First Corinthians chapter fifteen,
verse forty-five and in Ephesians chapter two, one: “And so it is
written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam
was made a quickening spirit.” [1 Corinthians 15:45]
“Being born
again” is being “quickened”. “And you hath he quickened, who were
dead in trespasses and sins;” [Ephesians 2:1]. This event of the
quickening of a man, or woman, to ETERNAL life is done
“by the word
of God.”
Verse twenty-four: “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of
man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower
thereof falleth away:”
The life of a person [having the first birth] is very short-lived,
[It is brief] and is very much like the annual rye grass which
springs up and then dies before even the summer is over. It is as it
says in the book of James: “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the
morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth
for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” [James 4:14] Why goes
this route. Why live for only a short time on this earth and then
die. Think about it! Why not, go for the GOLD? Get saved by the
BLOOD of the Lamb of God … and live forever! Amen!
3. The WORD of GOD is Forever
Verse twenty-five: “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And
this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
There is something “out there” and obtainable to you … that you can
“cling to” in your life whenever you realize that you are in the
time of need. “What is that?” you say. Are you ready for this! It’s
the Bible!
Now, the Bible is a totally different kind of book. There is no
other book like it in the whole world. I will tell you why. Its
origin is SUPERNATURAL. Its author is God, Himself. Yeah, God used
men to write the words that God spoke … into a BOOK. Do not ever let
the devils, or the Devil, himself, [Satan] lie to you about the
supernatural origin of the Bible. Here is what happened. This is how
we received the Bible.
Certain men [down through 3,500 year expanse of time] were “moved by
the Holy Ghost” to write down God’s words in a BOOK to give to us.
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy
men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” [2 Peter
1:21]
Furthermore, in the universal language of the end times [in the
English language], and in spite of the Devil and his cohorts [the
scholars], God has preserved the inspiration of His words that He
spoke in times past … in the Authorized Version of the Bible [A.V.
1611] commonly known as the King James Bible.
Friend, you can cling to that BOOK! [I am clinging to the
BOOK!] You
can cling to the King James Bible in your time of need with the
total confidence that you have God’s word to you.
Cling to it!!! You
will purify yourself, if you do.
1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers
scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and
Bithynia,
1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,
through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling
of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be
multiplied.
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a
lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that
fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if
need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious
than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be
found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus
Christ:
1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye
see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full
of glory:
1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of
your souls.
1 Peter 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and
searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come
unto you:
1 Peter 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of
Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand
the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1 Peter 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves,
but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported
unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the
Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to
look into.
1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and
hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the
revelation of Jesus Christ;
1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves
according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy
in all manner of conversation;
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of
persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your
sojourning here in fear:
1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with
corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot:
1 Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of
the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
1 Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from
the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in
God.
1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth
through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye
love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for
ever.
1 Peter 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as
the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flowerthereof
falleth away:
1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is
the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
