John 4:19 “The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

The Samaritan woman’s perception told her that this man standing before her was no mere man, [a natural man] but a supernatural man! Now a natural man can perceive many things within himself and by himself in this physical world, but he is helpless concerning the supernatural things.

The natural man is dead to spiritual things because of sin. If we are dead in our sins, and we all are, [according to Ephesians 2:5] then, HOW did this woman perceive that this man was a prophet? “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

We are dead men! We all are the walking dead! We, being the sons of Adam, are unable to detect SPIRITUAL things of GOD. In 1 Corinthians 2:11 we find this question is answered. “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” Unregenerate man doesn’t know [SENSE] the things of God!

That means we are totally UNABLE to perceive the spiritual things of God. Then how did this unsaved woman perceive that this man was a prophet? “The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive [acknowledge the TRUTH] that thou art a prophet.”

The Work Of The Holy Ghost In This Age [Church Age]

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:” [John 16:8].

The Spirit of God reproves [CONVICTS] the sinner:

1. Of Sin - [John 16:9] “Of sin, because they believe not on me;”

2. Of Righteousness - [John 16:10] “Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;”

3. Of Judgment - [John 16:11] “Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.” It is the Spirit of GOD who gives perception to the sinner.

“All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” [John 16:15]

The Spirit of God shows the sinner spiritual things [OPENS eyes to spiritual things]:

4. The Spirit of God guides into all TRUTH - “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." [John 16:13]

5. The Spirit of God points to The Son of GOD and not to Himself [The Holy Ghost] – “He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” [John 16:14]

6. The Spirit of God peradventure gives them repentance – “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” [2 Timothy 2:25]

7. The Spirit of God quickens - [John 6:63] “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

When “the woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet,” her perception came from the work of the Spirit of GOD who showed her that Jesus Christ was a prophet. Amen! Indeed Jesus Christ is The Prophet, The High Priest and The King of kings. [Matthew 21:11, Hebrew 6:20, 1 Timothy 6:15].

Salvation Is Of The Jews

“Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews”

Hated by the world, the nation of the Jews [Israel] is the very means of salvation to the world … to all the nations. Truly anything worthwhile in this old world … is of the Jews … chief of which is SALVATION from the eternal fires of Hell.

1. From the Jews: We have received the word of GOD. We have received the "ORACLES of GOD" [The BIBLE]. The Bible with its 66 books was given to us by GOD through the Jewish nation ("because that unto them were committed the oracles of God." [Romans 3:2] GOD gave us his BOOK over a span of 1,500 years ... beginning nearly 3,500 years ago!

2. From the Jews: We have received the SAVIOR … Jesus Christ who is the SON of GOD … who came to die for our sins on Mount Calvary … so that we might be saved, and receive the gift of eternal life. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” [John 3:17]

3. From the Jews: We will receive the one who shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace to rule the nations. Turn to the book of Isaiah and see the LIGHT prophesied to come into the world. Note the placement of the Jews into the very course of human events is determined by God Himself.
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.”
[Isaiah 9:2-8]

God Is A Spirit

David by the Spirit said this in [Psalm 139:7-12]. “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”

God is a spirit. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit [SPIRIT] of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.” [Isaiah 40:7] How can a man explain this? When God bloweth upon the grass it is awesome. When you realize the grass represents the people, you will fear the LORD. “For our God is a consuming fire.” [Hebrews 12:29]

God is a spirit. GOD the Father is Spirit, and Jesus Christ the SON of GOD is the express image of GOD WHO is a SPIRIT [Scripture with Scripture]. “Who [THE SON] being the brightness of his [THE FATHER] glory, and the express image of his person [THE FATHER], and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he [THE SON] had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty [THE FATHER] on high;” [Hebrews 1:3].

Jesus is GOD come in the flesh! [1 Timothy 3:16] “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” Jesus Christ is the “all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
[Colossians 2:9] “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
Amen!

The Gospel According To John

John 4:1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

John 4:2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

John 4:3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

John 4:4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

John 4:5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

John 4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

John 4:7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

John 4:8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

John 4:9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked
of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 4:11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

John 4:12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

John 4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

John 4:16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

John 4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

John 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

John 4:19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

John 4:20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

John 4:21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

John 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

John 4:26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

John 4:27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with
her?

John 4:28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

John 4:29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

John 4:30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

John 4:31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

John 4:32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

John 4:33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

John 4:36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

John 4:37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

John 4:38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

John 4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

John 4:40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

John 4:41 And many more believed because of his own word;

John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

John 4:43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

John 4:44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

John 4:45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

John 4:46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

John 4:47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for
he was at the point of death.

John 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

John 4:49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

John 4:50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

John 4:51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

John 4:52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

John 4:53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

John 4:54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
