John 8:1 “Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the
people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in
adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the
very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but
what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But
Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though
he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto
them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at
her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went
out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus
was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said
unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned
thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn
thee: go, and sin no more.”

1. Something Smells Fishy Here
Here, we have the twelve verses in the Authorized Version of 1611 Bible
[commonly called the King James Bible] that seem to be of particular
interest to the unbelieving Bible scholars, and to their Master - The
Devil. These twelve verses actually start in chapter seven at verse
fifty-three: “And every man went unto his own house”, and include the
first eleven verses of chapter eight.
Now, I have, here, a copy of the New International Version [NIV] in my
hands that was printed in 1979, and copyrighted in 1978. At the top of
the page [on page 1148], and inserted between the end of the chapter
[for chapter seven] and just before the start of the next chapter
[chapter eight] the NIV has this note: "[The earliest and most reliable
manuscripts do not have John 7:53-8-11.]".
I have also here a copy of the New American Standard [NASV] which has
in its margin this note: “1 John 7:53 – 8:11 is not found in most of old
mss.”
Something smells real fishy here. I wonder what is going on here. This
brings to mind the slick trick and operation of the DEVIL in Genesis
when he said to Eve: “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of
the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea,
hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” [Genesis
3:1] This is a question placed to ensnare your soul. YEA, HATH GOD SAID?
Satan always questions THE AUTHORITY [GOD]. He has a running campaign to
cast doubt on what God has said in HIS BOOK.
These translators of these perverted translations take the Alexandrian
manuscripts: Sinaiticus and Vaticanus also known as Codex Aleph and
Codex B, as their authorities, and ignore the vast store of evidence for
these twelve verses in John found in the Greek papyri, minuscule,
uncials, lectionaries and the church fathers. This is nothing more, but
the error [and rebellion] of the unbelieving hearts of the scholars
REVEALED. They treat a supernatural BOOK, as if it was a
NATURALISTIC
book, thus, their naturalistic theories, i.e., recension theories of
Griesbach, Westcott and Hort.
These two perverted manuscripts show throughout all their vellum leaves
[the deletions or subtractions] the critical heart of a Jehudi living
200-300 A.D. in Alexandria, Egypt. Alexandria, Egypt was then the haven of
the naturalistic, humanistic scholars of the educated world. Like Jehudi,
they always respond to “THUS SAITH THE LORD” with a question … “YEA,
HATH GOD SAID?”, then, break out the knife.
[Jeremiah 36:23] “And it
came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it
with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth,
until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.”
Such will not be our direction in this study! God forbid! I will believe
the BOOK [The Authorized Version of 1611 or any edition of it … or
otherwise commonly known as the King James Bible].
Now, to our text: the
Periscope de Adultera.
2. Taken In Adultery
Verse three and four: “And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a
woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They
say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very
act.”
We do not know for sure if this was a STAGED event. More than this, even
if we do not know if it was a staged event, we DO KNOW it was for the
purpose of the entrapment of the SON of GOD, or at the very least, it
was an attempt to put Jesus between a ROCK and a
HARD PLACE. The scribes'
and Pharisees' GOAL was this! If they could prove Jesus Christ
guilty of BREAKING the Law of Moses, then they would be justified to
bring an accusation against HIM concerning the Law, and thus, put
HIM to
death according to their interpretation of the Law.
But at any rate, we have a woman who is taken in adultery in the very
act. Now, what is adultery? We do need to find out what it is. Why? It
is because there is so much confusion about what is [the act of]
adultery. Whatever it is, we can know right away several things for
sure.
• God commands us not to commit it! This command is found in Exodus
chapter twenty, being one of the very TEN COMMANDMENTS.“Thou shalt not
commit adultery.” [Exodus 20:14]
• Something else! This appearance in Exodus 20:14 of the word “adultery”
is the very first instance of this word in the Bible.
• Furthermore, in Proverbs, we can learn this. Adultery is an act
committed against ones own self. It involves the “destroying” of one’s
own soul. [Proverbs 6:32] “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman
lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.”
• Adultery is an act, or relationship, committed against someone else’s
MARRIAGE [The Neighbor]. Adultery is fornication … involving a married
person, whereas, fornication is “general”, an act, not involving married
person[s]. For clarification, go to the book of Matthew, and read
[Matthew 5:32]. Notice, how both of these words are in the same verse.
“But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for
the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever
shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.” Fornication in
this verse is “general” and adultery in this verse is “specific”.
Adultery involves fornication every time, but fornication does not
necessarily result in “adultery”.
With this, we are now ready for the DEFINITION of adultery. Adultery is
an act in violation of God’s Law [involving at least one married person]
and results in a process of “soul destruction” and in “marriage
destruction”.
Adultery results in the dissolution of a marriage between a husband and
a wife, and is replaced by a heinous new relationship which God hates.
Turn to: [1 Corinthians 6:15-18] and see the analogy that the Spirit of
God makes concerning marriage, and the effect that fornication [here –
adultery] has on a marriage. [The analogy here, is of Jesus Christ, and
us, the Christians – that is, Christ and the Church.]
“Know ye not that
your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of
Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know
ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith
he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one
spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the
body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”
There, we have the sum of it. Marriage is “two” becoming “one flesh,”
and destruction to that marriage occurs when one of them steps out of
that relationship, and becomes “one flesh” with another’s flesh in a
[STRANGE] new relationship. The first covenant is dissolved.
[ADULTERY is much worse than what the religionists will
tell you.]
3. Where Is The Man?
Verse six and seven: “This they said, tempting him, that they might have
to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the
ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him,
he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among
you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
Did you notice something here?
Adultery involves a two people. We see the woman, because the scribes
and Pharisees brought to HIM the woman. Now, why didn’t they bring to
Jesus THE MAN? Don’t you think this is a little bit hypocritical on
their part? Yeah, this is more than a little hypocritical. This is crass
HYPOCROSY, and is typical of religious people. A hypocrite has one
standard for himself, and another standard for others. But back to the
question at hand, so WHERE was the man? If they caught the woman
IN THE
ACT, then they caught a man IN THE ACT, then why didn’t they bring the
man also, before Jesus Christ? I will tell you why. The man that
committed ADULTERY with the woman was standing there with them. The
“man” was one of them. How do we know this? It is because JEHOVAH [Jesus
Christ] was with them that day, and saw into them [into their hearts and
minds], and knew every detail of their dirty deed and conspiracy toward
HIM concerning the woman taken in adultery.
Religious hypocrites are
what they are, and Jesus Christ smoked them out! [HE
will smoke you out!!!] HE caught them red handed, and
exposed them for what they were. Every time adultery occurs there is a
man and woman involved, and furthermore, every time adultery is
committed, THE LAW of God is applied evenhandedly, and is
FAIR, in
judgment of that commission of sin.
4. The Law Says
A woman was not to take the blame ALONE. When these hypocrites in verse
five said: “Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be
stoned: but what sayest thou?” What HE said to them
BETWEEN THE LINES is
one of you is THE MAN, and if the LAW is to be carried out, then
YOU
[The Man] along with the woman is to be stoned. Here it is.
What Jesus
Christ wrote with his finger on the ground was THE LAW concerning the
matter [in Leviticus 20:10]: “And the man that committeth adultery with
another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his
neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put
to death.”
Wow! What a hit the human hearts of those hypocritical super
religionists took when they heard the Son of God say: “He that is
without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
That is it!
The JIG is up. They were found out for what they were. Verse nine:
“And
they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out
one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was
left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”
Now, I am glad when
the hypocrite can still exhibit a conscience. [The conscience can be
seared and destroyed, my friend.] That means the REPOOF of the
HOLY
GHOST can still operate in conjunction with that human heart
[conscience] to bring him to THE TRUTH. Amen! I am glad for that!
“And
when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness,
and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me;” [John 16:8-9].
5. Enter Now Grace
Verse ten and eleven: “When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none
but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers?
hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto
her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
I am glad for
GRACE! Amen! There was mercy that day [in John chapter eight] because
everyone guilty of adultery in the Old Testament dispensation of THE LAW
was put to death! It was because of “one” of the woman’s accusers,
standing there that day, was guilty himself, and the LORD knew it. Jesus
could have called for the stoning, in accordance with The Law of Moses,
but for the purpose … for the MISSION that he was on the earth to
MINISTER:
“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to
minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” [Matthew 20:28] This
ransom was purposed from on old in THE BOOK!
Take a long look at it! TIS GRACE and MERCY to us! Turn to: [Hosea 13:14]
“I will ransom them
from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I
will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance
shall be hid from mine eyes.”
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus
Christ."
[John 1:17]
John 8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and
all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
John 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman
taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
John 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in
adultery, in the very act.
John 8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be
stoned: but what sayest thou?
John 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to
accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the
ground, as though he heard them not.
John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself,
and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first
cast a stone at her.
John 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
John 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own
conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto
the last: and Jesus
was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
John 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the
woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath
no man condemned
thee?
John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither
do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light
of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but
shall have the light of life.
John 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record
of thyself; thy record is not true.
John 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of
myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither
I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
John 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
John 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not
alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
John 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two
men is true.
John 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that
sent me beareth witness of me.
John 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus
answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye
should have known my
Father also.
John 8:20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in
the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet
come.
John 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall
seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith,
Whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from
above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith
unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
John 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that
sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have
heard of him.
John 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son
of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of
myself; but as my
Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left
me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free.
John 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in
bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
John 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the
Son abideth ever.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed.
John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me,
because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do
that which ye have seen with your father.
John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.
Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do
the works of Abraham.
John 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the
truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We
be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would
love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of
myself, but he sent
me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot
hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your
father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode
not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh
a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of
it.
John 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
John 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth,
why do ye not believe me?
John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear
them not, because ye are not of God.
John 8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well
that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
John 8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my
Father, and ye do dishonour me.
John 8:50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh
and judgeth.
John 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying,
he shall never see death.
John 8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a
devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man
keep my saying,
he shall never taste of death.
John 8:53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead?
and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
John 8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing:
it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your
God:
John 8:55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should
say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know
him, and keep his saying.
John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it,
and was glad.
John 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years
old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid
himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of
them, and so passed by.
