John 8:44 “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father
ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the
truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye
not believe me?
47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not,
because ye are not of God.
48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou
art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do
dishonour me.
50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall
never see death.
52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil.
Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my
saying, he shall never taste of death.
53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the
prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my
Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I
know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep
his saying.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was
glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and
hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham
was, I am.
59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and
went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed
by.”

1. Ye Are Of Your Father The Devil
Verse forty-four: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of
your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode
not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a
lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
Now let me ask you this! Is this a loving and sweet thing to say to
someone? This is Jesus Christ speaking to his detractors. Maybe, friend,
you need to re-think this thing over a little bit. Maybe you have been
sold a "bill of goods". This is a day of political correctness. We have
lost our sight. We have lost our common sense. Jesus Christ called them
as HE saw them. Is there anything wrong with this? You say, what about
turning the other cheek?
[Matthew 5:39] “But I say unto you, That ye
resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn
to him the other also.”
You are mistakenly applying this. Calling
something for what it is; and turning to the other cheek can be done in
all the same operation. First Jesus Christ calls a SPADE a spade:
“Ye
are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do”,
and secondly HE turns the other cheek, and lets them nail
HIM to the
cross. If YOU have a problem here, it is because you misunderstood
LOVE,
JUSTICE AND THE TRUTH. You misunderstood The Scripture! Turn to [Isaiah
42:3] and SEE Jesus Christ.
“A bruised reed shall he not break, and the
smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto
truth.”
Jesus Christ did not RESIST their evil, but at the same time, He
did bring forth judgment unto TRUTH. [Look at the amazing precision of
the King James Bible.]
What we see here, where The SON of GOD confronts these Jews, in no way
conflicts with the revealed attributes of God found in this BOOK. The
God shown in [1 John 4:16] is a GOD of LOVE, but
HE is also the GOD of
WRATH, as shown in Revelation chapter nineteen. HE the
SAME GOD! Amen!
Jesus Christ knew the crowd there that day was the Devil’s crowd. They
had all the marks of their father. You know what I mean. Children take
on the characteristics of their parents. You have seen this.
a. They DO The Lusts
b. They Are The Murderers
c. They Are The Liars
[Romans 1:29-31] YOU … I … EVERYONE are “filled with all
unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness;
full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters,
haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things,
disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without
natural affection, implacable, unmerciful.”
We come into the world
members of that crowd; [There is no end to comment].
2. Hearing The Words Of God
Verse forty-seven: “He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore
hear them not, because ye are not of God.” Who are you tuned to? [You
are tuned to hear someone.] Here is another question. I am getting
personal. What is the nearest thing to your heart? Think about it. These
are the all-so-important questions you need to ask yourself. I will sum
it up this way. Can you HEAR God’s words?
If you cannot hear God’s words, it is NOT because you have wax in your
ears. You have a different problem. Jesus is not talking here about your
ability [or discernment] to hear the natural sounds [hearing by your
EARS] but rather HE is talking about your ability [or discernment] to hear
the spiritual sounds. What are these spiritual sounds? They involve
HEARING in your heart the words of God. In [1 Corinthians 2:14] the
Spirit of God gives it this way: “But the natural man receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither
can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
If you can hear God’s words, then it is because you have been
“quickened” or “born again” [spiritually made alive, and now, enabled to
hear [discern] and judge [discriminate] ALL THINGS.
“But he that is
spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.” [1
Corinthians 2:15]
A believer will be TUNED, by the HOLY GHOST, to hear
the still small voice that no one else can hear. The world has a HUGE
mistaken notion of where God’s voice is. God’s voice with which He
speaks to the believer [the true Christian] is not in a great, strong
wind, nor is it in an earthquake, and it is not in a fire. Scripture
with scripture: [1 Kings 19:11-12]
“And he said, Go forth, and stand
upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a
great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks
before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an
earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the
earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire
a still small voice.”
Amen!
3. Keeping The Sayings Of The LORD
Verse fifty-one: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my
saying, he shall never see death.” What is a saying? A “saying” is built
with words. This “saying” here points to the words of God. The words of
God are SCRIPTURE, and we are told to search the scriptures for the
purpose of keeping the sayings which TESTIFY of the SON of GOD. [John 5:39]
“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and
they are they which testify of me.”
The man, woman, or child who keeps
the sayings of the LORD are the ones who love HIM. [John 14:21]
“He that
hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he
that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and
will manifest myself to him.”
This is where the rubber meets the road.
If you believe the sayings [FAITH] you will end up
doing them as a natural result: saved by GRACE through FAITH, and the
FRUIT will follow.
The locomotive is FAITH and the passenger cars that follow are the proof
[Fruit].
4. Before Abraham
Verse fifty-eight: “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
Now hear this! Nothing infuriates more a child of the Devil than to hear: “Before Abraham was, I am.” Why is
this? Here is the answer. Ready? It is because the children’s father
[who is THE DEVIL] will explode with the shot of vehement anger of a madman at THE FACT that the SON of GOD [Jesus Christ] is
“I AM”.
Then, it shouldn’t surprise you that his children will react the same
way. The old rebel in us hates AUTHORITY.
Now, an apple does not fall
too far from its tree.
You do believe we are the children of wrath,
don’t you? Do you believe what the Book says about you? Turn to
[Ephesians 2:3] Here is the indictment: “Among whom also we all had our
conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the
desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of
wrath, even as others.” Amen!
Now, turn in the Old Black BOOK to [Exodus 3:14], and see for yourself.
“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou
say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”
Are you satisfied now? The “I AM” herein John eight is the same
“I AM” in
Exodus. HE is the SAME GOD … Amen! Amen! Amen!
John 8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and
all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
John 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman
taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
John 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in
adultery, in the very act.
John 8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be
stoned: but what sayest thou?
John 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to
accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the
ground, as though he heard them not.
John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself,
and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first
cast a stone at her.
John 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
John 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own
conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto
the last: and Jesus
was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
John 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the
woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath
no man condemned
thee?
John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither
do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them,
saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not
walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record
of thyself; thy record is not true.
John 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of
myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither
I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
John 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
John 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not
alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
John 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two
men is true.
John 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that
sent me beareth witness of me.
John 8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus
answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye
should have known my
Father also.
John 8:20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in
the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet
come.
John 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall
seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith,
Whither I go, ye cannot come.
John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from
above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith
unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
John 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that
sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have
heard of him.
John 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son
of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of
myself; but as my
Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left
me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free.
John 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in
bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
John 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the
Son abideth ever.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed.
John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me,
because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do
that which ye have seen with your father.
John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.
Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do
the works of Abraham.
John 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the
truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We
be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would
love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of
myself, but he sent
me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot
hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the
devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer
from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no
truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he
is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
John 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth,
why do ye not believe me?
John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear
them not, because ye are not of God.
John 8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well
that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
John 8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my
Father, and ye do dishonour me.
John 8:50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh
and judgeth.
John 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying,
he shall never see death.
John 8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a
devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man
keep my saying,
he shall never taste of death.
John 8:53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead?
and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
John 8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing:
it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your
God:
John 8:55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should
say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know
him, and keep his saying.
John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it,
and was glad.
John 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years
old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid
himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of
them, and so passed by.
