John 12:34 “The people answered him, We have heard out of the law
that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man
must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with
you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for
he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the
children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did
hide himself from them.
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they
believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which
he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the
arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they
should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and
be converted, and I should heal them.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of
him.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him;
but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they
should be put out of the synagogue:
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on
me, but on him that sent me.
45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me
should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not:
for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that
judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him
in the last day.
49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he
gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I
speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
1. Son Of God And Son Of Man
2. Light And Darkness
3. Blinded And Hardened
4. Praise And Praise
5. Rejection And Judgment
1. Son Of God And Son Of Man
Verse thirty-four: “The people answered him, We have heard out of
the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son
of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?”
Throughout the Bible the term “son of man” shows that which comes of
man. [A father begets a son, thus a “son of man”.]
Turn to Job chapter twenty-five in your Bibles, and we will start
with verse six: “How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of
man, which is a worm?” [Job 25:6]
It is men that beget the “children of men”. It has been this way for
nearly six thousand years. [Genesis 11:5] “And the Lord came down to
see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.”
The only aberration to this established norm is when the sons of God
“took them wives” of the “daughters of men.” We can see this by
turning to Genesis chapter six, verse two: “That the sons of God saw
the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives
of all which they chose.” [Genesis 6:2]
Now, without going into what
exactly happened here at this time, I can say this though: the Devil
was behind happened in Genesis six. Let us move on now.
When Jesus Christ is called the “son of man” in the Scripture, it is
to expressly emphasize HIS HUMANITY. The fact that
GOD became a man
almost two thousand years ago causes cataclysmic repercussions for
us all … as men [MANKIND]. All one has to do to see to see truth of
this, is to open THE BOOK at John chapter one, and read verse one,
and verse fourteen, and then, turn to Philippians chapter two, and
read, to see: that God “was made in the likeness of men.”
The SON of
GOD [literally] stepped down among HIS Own creation to
“manifest”HIMSELF in the flesh.
“And without controversy great is the mystery
of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the
Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in
the world, received up into glory.” [1 Timothy 3:16]
The term “Son of God” in the Bible emphasizes Jesus Christ’s
DEITY.
The fact that Jesus Christ is GOD goes without argument if you
believe the Bible is the word of God. [Now, if you are honest
person, you know that I am right in this matter, and YOU can say
AMEN!]
Jesus Christ is “the only begotten Son.” See [John 1:18]:
“No
man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in
the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” Now, read [Ephesians
3:4]: “Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the
mystery of Christ).”
2. Light And Darkness
Verse thirty-five and the first part of verse thirty-six: “Then
Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk
while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have
light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.”
If only all men everywhere could see of the warning here and heed.
The disciples would have forty-two months to [literally] walk with
the LIGHT. But for all those who would be born of the children of
men, born after Jesus Christ went back to Heaven, we have the
BIBLE
… the WORD of GOD to be our
LIGHT.
WALK WHILE YOU HAVE LIGHT!
Turn to Ephesians chapter five, verse fourteen: “Wherefore he saith,
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall
give thee light.” [Ephesus 5:14] God gives this light from the light
of the glorious gospel … The Bible!
Turn to Second Corinthians chapter four, verse four, and see who it
is that would love to keep from this LIGHT: “In whom the god of this
world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine unto them.” [2 Corinthians 4:4]
Did you see that? The Devil does not want you and I to see this
LIGHT. The LIGHT is Jesus Christ. The Devil does not want
“the
children of men” [you and I] to awake from the sleep of death till
you are in HELL!
3. Blinded And Hardened
Verse forty: “He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart;
that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their
heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.”
This was prophesied by the prophet in Isaiah five hundred years
earlier [Isaiah 6:10]. The prophesy in Isaiah is concerning Israel,
and was literally fulfilled, when they [Israel] rejected their
Messiah, who is Jesus Christ. Their blindness, as a nation, resulted
in both the Kingdom of Heaven being delayed, and with the
destruction of the city of Jerusalem in 71 A.D. and the dispersion
of the Jewish nation throughout all the nations of the earth. That
is why Jesus weeped over Jerusalem in [Matthew 23:37]: “O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which
are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children
together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and
ye would not!”
4. Praise And Praise
Verse forty-three: “For they loved the praise of men more than the
praise of God.”
The first praise is “the praise of men”. The second praise is
“the
praise of God”. The praise of men in terms of eternity will not
amount to “a hill of beans”. In the end, the praise of God will mean
everything! Are you listening to me?
The first Adam was made a living soul by the ONE who was
“a
quickening spirit”. Adam was a mere man, but “the quickening spirit”
is the Son of God ... Jesus Christ. [1 Corinthians 15:45] “And so it
is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam
was made a quickening spirit.”
Who is the greater? Is it the CREATOR [THE QUICKENING SPIRIT] or the
Creature [MERE MAN]? Wouldn’t you want the greater praise … the
praise of your Creator?
[If you are in your right mind, it will be
the praise of GOD.] AMEN!
Consider the Scripture in Hebrews chapter four, verse thirteen:
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight:
but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom
we have to do.” [Hebrews 4:13]
5. Rejection And Judgment
Verse forty-eight: “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my
words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the
same shall judge him in the last day”
Do nothing, and by default you have rejected Jesus Christ. This is a
hard rule! "Pay day" for you will be at the White Throne Judgment
which will take place after the one thousand year Kingdom of Heaven
on this earth is over.
Lets close here by turning to Revelation twenty, verse eleven:
“And
I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face
the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for
them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the
books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of
life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were
written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up
the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead
which were in them: and they were judged every man according to
their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” [Revelation 20:11-15]
Friend, it will behoove you to hearken to the LORD. Do not be among
the crowd that rejects HIM. Awake from your sleep
NOW, and turn to
Jesus Christ … for His so great salvation that HE purchased for
YOU
by HIS BLOOD on Calvary’s CROSS! Amen!
John 12:1 Then Jesus six days before the passover
came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he
raised from the dead.
John 12:2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but
Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
John 12:3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very
costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her
hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
John 12:4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's
son, which should betray him,
John 12:5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence,
and given to the poor?
John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because
he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
John 12:7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my
burying hath she kept this.
John 12:8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not
always.
John 12:9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there:
and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see
Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
John 12:10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put
Lazarus also to death;
John 12:11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away,
and believed on Jesus.
John 12:12 On the next day much people that were
come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to
Jerusalem,
John 12:13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him,
and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the
name of the Lord.
John 12:14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as
it is written,
John 12:15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh,
sitting on an ass's colt.
John 12:16 These things understood not his disciples at the first:
but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things
were written of
him, and that they had done these things unto him.
John 12:17 The people therefore that was with him when he called
Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
John 12:18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they
heard that he had done this miracle.
John 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive
ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
John 12:20 And there were certain
Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:
John 12:21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida
of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
John 12:22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and
Philip tell Jesus.
John 12:23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that
the Son
of man should be glorified.
John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat
fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it
bringeth forth much fruit.
John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth
his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am,
there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my
Father honour.
John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father,
save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
John 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from
heaven,
saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
John 12:29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said
that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
John 12:30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of
me, but for your sakes.
John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince
of this world be cast out.
John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all
men unto me.
John 12:33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
John 12:34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law
that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man
must be lifted up? who
is this Son of man?
John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the
light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come
upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be
the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and
did hide himself from them.
John 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet
they believed not on him:
John 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled,
which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath
the arm of the
Lord been revealed?
John 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias
said again,
John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart;
that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their
heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
John 12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and
spake of him.
John 12:42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on
him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest
they should be put out of the synagogue:
John 12:43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of
God.
John 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth
not on me, but on him that sent me.
John 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever
believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge
him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath
one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall
judge him in the last
day.
John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which
sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I
should speak.
John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:
whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I
speak.
