The Book of MicahThe Day of Night

Micah 3:5 “Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
6 Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.”

1. False Prophets and False Teachers

The first part of verse five: “Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths,”

What do we see here?

We see this. “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” [2 Peter 2:1]

They were there in times past, and they are here today.

There were prophets … who made the people to “err”

There were prophets … who made the people to go astray, and that … led the people to their very destruction in Micah’s day.

There are teachers … who make the people to “err”.

There are teachers … who make the people to go astray, and that … lead the people to their very destruction in our day.

Now, this is just the plain unvarnished truth.  Just get use to this!  The religionists have operated this way … throughout history.

In the book of Matthew Jesus Christ warns us of this very thing: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” [Matthew 7:15]

The religionists are the false prophets!  They are the false teachers!  They are “ravening wolves.”

There is something else. The religionists are like the moles.  Now, moles operate just under the surface so that can do their work without being detected.

What is the problem here?  The problem, according to God which is given to us through the true prophet [Jeremiah], is that these religionists were not sent by God at all.  They did not come from God, nor did they receive their messages from God, which is according to Jeremiah in chapter fourteen, verse fourteen [Listen to the Spirit of God]: “Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.” [Jeremiah 14:14] The religionists lie! They lie like a rug!

Now listen to me.  An inside job is done by inside people.

The sly fox [the Devil] always operates from inside the flock [the church], or from inside the infrastructure of a nation [the United States of America].  He is the enemy … from within. He is the enemy … who has the inside information and works [using this inside information] to destroy … piece by piece … and little by little … the vital relationship between a people and the TRUE GOD of Heaven and of Earth.

Now, hear this:

Not every preacher preaches the truth.

Not every Bible teacher teaches the truth.

Not every evangelist evangelizes people to the truth.

The prophets in Micah’s day were not all … like Micah.

Micah was different.  Micah told it like it was.  Micah was God’s man.  Micah was the man standing in the “gap” between God and the people. “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” [Ezekiel 22:30]

God is always looking for someone to stand in the gap.  Are you standing in the gap?

2. The War Against God

Now, for the last part of verse five: “they even prepare war against him.”

Do you see it?  It is right before you [in this verse].  The false prophets prepare war against God.  We are in spiritual warfare against spiritual wickedness.

It is as it says in Ephesians chapter six, verse twelve: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” [Ephesians 6:12]

These false prophets in Micah’s day and the false teachers in our day are at war with God. They are R-E-B-E-L-S!

They fight against God, and therefore, they fight against the Son of God, even Jesus Christ.  They fight against the word of God the Bible, and they therefore, fight against you, YOU … the true Christian.

These false prophets hated Israel and these false teachers hate you … the true believers in Jesus Christ. These religionists USE the word of God [without believing the word of God] from their pulpits and from their high places in the land to “war against him.”

These false prophets with their false prophecies lied to the people in order to seduce the people and cause the people to err.

Look at what Jesus has told us in the book of Mark chapter thirteen, verse twenty-two: “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” [Mark 13:22]

All that is religious is not necessarily good for you!  We need to test the spirits in these religionists. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” [1 John 4:1]

3. The Cloudy and Dark Day

Verse six: “Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.”

Watch out for “the cloudy and dark day.”

Turn to the book of Ezekiel chapter thirty-four with me.  Come down to verse twelve: “As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.” [Ezekiel 34:12]

The sun has gone down over the prophets!  It is dark!

Where there darkness, there is night. Where there us night, there is no vision, and according to Proverbs: “Where there is no vision, the people perish:” [Proverbs 29:18a].

The people are perishing!

The day of night is upon us.

It is coming.  It is so close.

Now, the sheep are already scattered.

It is a day of apostasy.

This has come to us in our day, which is at the end of the Church Age.

It is a day of “a falling away”.  This “falling away” is what the Holy Ghost revealed to the Apostle Paul, and is shown to us in the Bible [in Second Thessalonians chapter two, verse three]: “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” [2 Thessalonians 2:3]

Whenever the night overtakes a man, that man’s labor will come to a stop.  He will not be able to work no more.

This is what the Son of God told us when HE was here on this earth working “the works of him” nearly two thousand years ago.

See this in John chapter nine, verse four: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” [John 9:4]

Whenever this “night” comes [“the night” in John 9:4] the darkness will envelope us all.

There will no light.

It will be, as Amos the prophet prophesied in Amos chapter five, verse twenty: “Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?” [Amos 5:20]
